Steve Hawke

 

Steve Hawke’s writing life has been woven around almost forty years of work with Indigenous communities and organisations in the Fitzroy Valley of Western Australia’s Kimberley region. His works include the social and political histories Noonkanbah, and A Town Is Born:  The Fitzroy Crossing Story; Polly Farmer, a biography of the great footballer; a children’s novel, Barefoot Kids; a stage play – Jandamarra; and most recently, the libretto for a dramatic cantata – Jandamarra: Sing for the Country.  He also works in the arts sector as a producer, project developer and facilitator.
