Dianne Wolfer
Dianne is author of 15 books for teenagers and young readers. Recent titles include Light Horse Boy (Fremantle Press 2013), named an Honour Book by the Children’s Book Council of Australia and winner of the 2014 WA Premier’s Award for Children’s Books; Granny Grommet and Me (Walker Books Australia 2013) inspired by surfing grandmas and shortlisted by the Book Council; and Lighthouse Girl (Fremantle Press 2005) winner of a Western Australian Young Readers Book Award, which explores the story of Fay Howe, the Albany lighthouse keeper’s daughter who signalled to soldiers departing Australia for the war in 1914 and the inspiration for the hugely popular Royal de Luxe performance of The Giants, staged in the Perth International Arts Festival in February 2015. Dianne lives in Albany, Western Australia.
A new picture book for children, Nana’s Button Tin, illustrated by Heather Potter, will be published by Walker Books Australia in June, and by Candlewick Press in the USA in 2018. Her best-selling illustrated books, Lighthouse Girl and Light Horse Boy (Fremantle Press, 2009 and 2013) have been adapted for the stage and will feature in the 2017 program of the Black Swan State Theatre Company
